Thono and Paco are two Brazilians who came to New York in search of better living conditions, hoping that the American dream would come true. However, little or nothing has been achieved. Tonho works in a bathroom and dreams of returning to his country; Paco, actually Rita, prostitutes herself and drugs while she waits for the opportunity to become a successful singer. They are two completely different characters, who only have nationality and marginalization in common. However, after an accidental meeting in which Thono helps Paco, who was attacked by one of his clients, the two begin a difficult coexistence in Thono's apartment.
